Graduation and Maypole
Each year the Graduation ceremonies at St. Stephen’s
consist of three events: Graduation Mass, Graduation,
and the Maypole.
The Graduation Mass is held on the Sunday prior to
Graduation. The graduating class attends mass with the
St. Stephen’s Parish and are honored during the mass.
Each 6th grader receives a Bible as a gift from the
Church.
Graduation is held on the last day of school. The sixth
graders process one at a time into the Church. The girls
dress in white dresses and carry baskets of flowers. The
boys wear blue jacket and white pants.
Three awards are given on Graduation Day. The Copeland
Scholarship Award is given to the student with the
highest grade point average, the Densmore Citizenship
Award is given to the student voted best citizen by the
faculty and staff, and the Lynne Allen Leadership Award
is given to the student voted outstanding leader by the
faculty and staff.
After the Graduation is completed, the 6th graders
perform a Maypole Dance for the entire school body and
parents in attendance.
