Spanish
The St. Stephen’s students live and are exposed to a geographical area of the state of Florida where Spanish proves to be a necessity. Miami is the gateway to many Latin American cultures and the Spanish program at St. Stephen’s strives to be the vehicle that will facilitate the students’ interaction with the Latin American community. To focus on conversational proficiency, the school sets aside one day each week to use the Spanish language wherever possible: in line, on the playground, at lunch, during chapel and Flag Salute. The program aims to provide a sound foundation and reinforcement of the Spanish language as well as serving as preparation for the second language demands in the middle and high school levels.
